Community Organization and Advocacy

In addition to the supportive programs and services the FYSB provides for children and families, the agency is also encouraging the community to nurture and care for all of its children and youth - - to be a place where "All Kids Matter". The following are projects and programs which are being developed to encourage adults and young people to provide the support needed to ensure that all kids have the opportunities to acquire those assests essential to their successful growth and development.

Pledge to My Community and It's Children
A Place Where "All Kids Matter": Businesses organizations, and religious institutions receive recognition by partnering with the FYSB and going through a short orientation program to learn new ways to support young people.

Safe Place: The FYSB and Crisis Center, Inc., a youth service bureau in Lake County, are collaborating in this nationally affiliated program which provides access to help and supportive resources for young people in crisis. Providing information to youth to help prevent crises is an integral part of this program.

"Coffee House Talks": A forum in which adults and young people discuss various fun and serious topics, including what it is like to be a kid today and what it was like to be a kid in previous generations. This group meets weekly at the Campbell Street Cafe.
