View of Main Building Our Mission:
The mission of the Family & Youth Services Bureau is to support children and families as they encounter the various tasks, circumstances and challenges of life - so that children have the opportunity to become capable, responsible and contributing members of the community and families have the means to effectively assist in that process.

Moreover, the agency will encourage the community to nurture and care for all of its children.

The Family & Youth Services Bureau is private, not-for-profit organization. Programs are staffed by experienced professionals whose training is typically in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Education. The agency will not refuse service to any one because of an inability to pay; nor will the Family & Youth Services Bureau discriminate in providing services on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual preference, national origin or handicap.

I am a child -
does the community tell me that...
F&YSB
  • it is afraid of me or that it cares enough to correct me when I misbehave?
  • I am in the way or that it enjoys my company?
  • I have a contribution to make or that I am not important?
  • I am trustworthy or that I must be watched and not allowed to be in certain places?
  • it appreciates my energy and idealism or that it is threatened by my desire to change things?
  • it will help keep me safe or that it will not notice when I am mistreated?
  • it cares about my well-being or that it will allow my desire to be like other kids to be exploited by the "fashion industry" or others who seek to manipulate me for their gain?
  • it cares about what values it models or that adults are too often careless about what they say and what they do?
Each day I ask; each day you answer.
