Healthy Families
A Free Voluntary Home Visitation Program for Expectant Parents or Parents with Newborns

Healthy Families is a national program that promotes positive parenting to families of newborns through home visitiation and referrals to other resources within our community.

The Porter County Healthy Families program is based on over 2 decades of research and experience with home visitation programs. Healthy Families utilizes proven curriculum to promote positive parent/child interaction.

Healthy Families believes that all families have strengths that should be recognized and built upon. Building on those strengths will allow families to make positive changes in their lives.

Program Staff meet with families to identify what their needs are. Those families that qualify for home visiting services will be assigned a Family Support Specialist who will visit with the family in their home. Family Support Specialists can provide many services including regular developmental screening for your children. We offer a team of experienced home visitors who have extensive knowledge concerning the issues that are confronting parents. These Family Support Specialists are practical and sensitive to the unique challenges facing families today.

Home Visitors can provide a multitude of referrals to community resources, including parenting and fathering classes. A newsletter full of helpful information, recipes and activities is published periodically and mailed to enrolled families.

Parenting is very rewarding and demanding. All parents have questions, concerns and stress. With the help of Porter County Healthy Families you don't have to do it alone.
