Residential Services We provide long-term and temporary residential treatment programs for adolescents that are unable to function in their homes, schools and communities or those awaiting juvenile court intervention. During this time we provide intensive, comprehensive treatment and support through professional staffing and appropriate assessments. We provide both family and individual counseling while making arrangements to meet our clients educational needs.

We provide services for the Juvenile Justice Agencies such as Porter County Courts & Juvenile Probation throughout the local area. These programs have been designed specifically for needs that have been brought to our attention. We work closely with Juvenile Justice agencies to provide effective, practical and cost effective alternatives for these youth and their families.
  • Risk Management works with adolescents who are at "high-risk" or "very high-risk" of entering the criminal justice system. It is a full-day program that runs a minimum of 42 weeks. The program teaches new skills and behaviors and reinforces connections to the community.
  • Community Transition / Day Reporting Program works with adolescents who are returning to the community or those adolescents and families at "high-risk" and need added supervision and services to help them make appropriate decisions.

The Family and Youth Services Bureau believes that the earlier in life significant family risk-factors can be identified and addressed, the greater the opportunity to make effective changes and reduce the likelihood of significant problems later. Two initiatives have been developed in keeping with that belief.
    • Healthy Families is a national program that promotes positive parenting to newborns through home visitation and other services for families.
    • Tot Shop issues coupons to parents to be redeemed for baby equipment, toys, clothes and diapers after completing a number of tasks related to responsible parenting.

Volunteer Services The single most important factor in developing necessary resilience in children is the significant presence of non-parent adults in their lives. The Family and Youth Services Bureau offers a number of opportunities for adults to become involved in a positive way.

    Alternative Education Top of Page

The Family and Youth Services Bureau is committed to helping youth achieve success in school so that they can complete their secondary education and be prepared to lead a productive adult life. Two agency programs are directed toward that goal.
