Each year in June our Clinical Services Staff hosts
a Summer Day Camp. It is a unique camp experience designed to bolster confidence, cooperation, and communication skills.
For ten days over a two week period
approximately 30 children ages 8 to 12 participate
in games, crafts, reading, and field trips. The camp is based at the Forest Park Rotary Pavilion in Valparaiso Monday through Thursday with field trips on Fridays. In 2019, campers visited the zoo, and the museum of science and industry.
This camp is designed to be useful for children whose
social skills are identified as creating difficulties in school.
All activities are planned to develop good social skills for each child. The expertise of having staff who are licensed therapists and social workers adds a beneficial element to the program. The camp curriculum is based on the national model ssgrin. Learn more about ssgrin here.
Interviews of both parent and child are required before acceptance into the program in order to ensure this is the right program for the child.
